About us
For the past 20 years, owner James Merryman has been digitizing videos for his friends and family. In 2011, James started Save Your Tapes to bring his service to the masses, gaining thousands of new customers after partnering with Groupon and LivingSocial. We’ve since refined our processes and introduced new services like SYT Home Pickup, specialty format digitizing, and photo and slide scanning.
We've had the privilege of saving so many customer videos over the past decade, earning us features on Amazon and Yelp. We were even recommended by the Austin American Statesman in the 2018 Tech Purge. Our customers love the convenience of in-person drop off and home pick up, compared to the leading competitors that require you to put your memories in the mail.

James is a tech guru with several industry certifications, but technical know-how aside, he's extremely savvy in the people business and loves delighting customers.
Growing up, the family video camera was frequently occupied by James filming his latest home video. After using an Apple computer for the first time, he taught himself the ins and outs of video editing and would distribute DVD copies of his homemade films.
James enjoys spending time with his wife and newborn daughter, playing fetch with his dog Canelo, and being entertained by his 4 cats.
Valerie Arguello

Valerie was born and raised in San Antonio and relocated to Austin, TX in 2014 to continue her tech career after working at Apple for 7 years. She enjoys working out and watching her favorite team the New York Yankees. On the weekends she spends her time taking her son to flag football & basketball games. Quoting & watching “The Office” is her ultimate past time.
Cindy Merryman
Digitizer - Slides and Photos
Since childhood, Cindy has always loved anything to do with photography after being inspired and taught by her father. She recently took on the enormous task of scanning her entire family’s collection of 4800 slides, giving them to her siblings as holiday gifts.
For the past 15 years, Cindy has been cataloguing her vacations and family events into professionally printed photo books. She is a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother to her 4 adult children, their spouses, and her 3 grandchildren. Today, she leads the slide scanning efforts at Save Your Tapes. She loves scanning slides because it makes her happy knowing that her work enables families to see their memories again.
